[August 21, 2026]: While protesting the murder of Corey Ruiz by police officer Kiel Peterson, Madison police arrested two leaders of Freedom, Inc, Zon Moua and Hope Vang. The arrests happened at around 6:30 pm in front of State St. at the Capitol. The police deployed pepper spray against protesters and arrested another protester, whose name we are not releasing to protect their privacy.
Hope and Zon were bailed out by the Free the 350 Bail Fund.
We note that the City of Madison arrested the people protesting against murder, but have refused to arrest the murderer. We demand dropping charges against everyone arrested for saying Corey's name. We demand Justice for Corey. We demand Community Control Over Police.
