Survivor-Led Policy Recommendations Presented to City Council

Last week, FAN organizers and survivor-advocates presented a comprehensive set of policy recommendations to the Madison City Council. These recommendations were developed through months of community listening sessions with survivors of gender-based violence.

Key recommendations include:

• Housing First: Immediate shelter placement without preconditions
• Peer Support Funding: Sustainable funding for survivor-led support networks
• Police Alternative Response: Community-based crisis intervention teams
• Economic Justice: Direct cash assistance programs for survivors

The City Council has committed to reviewing these recommendations in their upcoming session.
